There are 2 sizes of hose used, 5/8 and 3/4. Water flows from the fitting on the intake manifold through the 5/8 hose into the bottom of the heater

core, then up through the core and exits out of the heater core through the 3/4 hose and returns to either the radiator or the water pump via the 3/4' fitting.
